RF Monolithics, a Dallas-based maker of wireless connectivity products—including short-range radio equipment for devices including insulin pumps, pacemakers and real-time wireless EKG monitors—announced it will be acquired by Murata Electronics North America.
Murata's parent is based in Kyoto, Japan; the company makes passive electronic components and wireless modules. Its North American offices are in Smyrna, Ga. The deal will cost Murata $19.6 million for the 11 million outstanding shares. That's $1.78 per share for holders of RFMI common shares, an 80% premium over Thursday's Nasdaq closing price.
