Hackensack University Health Network and the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System will create joint information technology programs and coordinate quality and other clinical efforts under a strategic alliance.
Governance of the two organizations will remain separate as will the partners' balance sheets, according to a news release announcing the agreement. “According to the terms of the new alliance, each entity will remain independent and continue to be responsible for its own assets, operations and liabilities, and neither party nor its Board of Trustees will have any legal responsibility over the other,” according to the statement.
A joint-operating committee will oversee management and funding for efforts under the strategic alliance, including creation or expansion of federally qualified health centers. Other goals for the alliance include improved care management, support for community health needs, joint research and new specialty-care referral arrangements.
