Dallas-based emergency medicine documentation-systems vendor T-System has acquired Clinical Coding Solutions, a Kansas City, Mo.-based company that provides coding and charge services for hospital emergency departments. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
T-System buys Clinical Coding Solutions
The announcement comes less than two months after T-System acquired Practice Management Associates, an emergency-department billing and coding company based in Williamsburg, Pa., for an undisclosed amount.
In a news release, Mikael Ohman, T-System's COO, said the two acquisitions were part of a growth strategy that would allow the company to connect revenue-cycle processes with clinical documentation.
"With PMA and CCS, we were excited not only by the opportunity that bringing them into the company would offer, but also by the way they complement each other and, in turn, T-System," he said in the release. "Both offer facility and physician coding, but PMA was founded by an ED physician, providing a strong clinical background, and offers physician billing services, while CCS has a broad-reaching footprint across the U.S. with a strong IT background."
