Parallon Business Solutions said Jim Fitzgerald, who serves as president and CEO of HealthTrust Purchasing Group and president of Parallon's supply-chain solutions business unit, plans to retire in May.
Parallon says Fitzgerald will retire in May
Fitzgerald currently oversees two business units for Parallon Business Solutions: HealthTrust Purchasing Group, a Brentwood, Tenn.-based group purchasing organization that said in 2011 it managed about $18 billion (PDF) in purchasing volume, and Supply Chain Solutions, which offers supply-chain consulting and services.
Nashville-based HCA launched Parallon Business Solutions in May. Late last year, Parallon announced that it had named a new CEO, Michael O'Boyle from UnitedHealth Group, after the retirement of Beverly Wallace.
Parallon Business Solutions, based in Franklin, Tenn., said in a news releasethat it plans to conduct a national search for Fitzgerald's successor. Fitzgerald has served as HCA's supply-chain officer since 1994 and oversaw the establishment of HealthTrust Purchasing Group in 1999, according to a 2011 news release (PDF).
