The West Wireless Health Institute, a healthcare technology not-for-profit, announced a newly created wireless framework for hospitals and health systems.
Institute develops wireless framework
The institute, based in La Jolla, Calif., said the project created a reference architecture already deployed at six hospitals and health systems that helped to develop it, including El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif., according to a news release.
Working with a group of healthcare executives, the institute sought to address the industry's need for a wireless installation standard, which limits wireless use and drives up costs, the statement said. The group will also seek to address wireless regulatory improvement and leadership; interoperability, data analytics and assurance for medical devices; and hospital infrastructure implementation, the statement said.
