Ronald Hanchar has been named executive director of allied health certification programs for the National Healthcareer Association and National Academy of Sports Medicine—two subsidiaries of Ascend Learning, a Stillwell, Kan.-based provider of education and assessment programs for healthcare and other industries.
Hanchar to lead NHA and NASM programs
Hanchar, 60, will lead NHA and NASM's certification and healthcare practitioner competency exam programs, according to an Ascend Learning news release.
Most recently, Hanchar was working for Computer Sciences Corp. on a project aligning the U.S. Defense Department's “cyber forensic certificate of achievement” programs with American National Standards Institute accreditation, according to the release. Another CSC executive, Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Classen, recently left the company to become chief medical information officer at Pascal Metrics in Washington.
Previously, Hanchar was the director of certification at the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and he has also worked for the Project Management Institute and the American Health Information Management Association. He also serves as chairman of the steering committee for the Certification Network Group, an industry leadership networking organization.
