Ambit Biosciences, a San Diego-based biopharmaceutical company, hired Dr. Athena Countouriotis as chief medical officer.
Countouriotis appointed CMO at Ambit
Countouriotis, 40, most recently served as a global clinical leader in Pfizer's oncology business unit and has held positions with Bristol-Myers Squibb and Cell Therapeutics, according to a news release.
In her new role at Ambit Biosciences, Countouriotis will lead clinical development of quizartinib, a treatment for acute myeloid leukemia, and the company's other clinical-stage product programs.
Robert Corringham had served as CMO until March 2011, according to Ambit.
