Hill Physicians Medical Group, San Ramon, Calif., announced that founding CEO Steve McDermott will retire at the end of March and will be succeeded by current COO Darryl Cardoza.
Hill Physicians CEO McDermott to retire
McDermott, 65, and Cardoza, whose age was not provided, have partnered since 1981, when they formed PriMed Management Consulting Services, also in San Ramon. PriMed has managed Hill Physicians since 1984. McDermott will remain chairman of PriMed's board, according to a Hill Physicians news release. PriMed is owned by McDermott, Cardoza, Hill Physicians and San Francisco-based Dignity Health, the former Catholic Healthcare West.
Hill Physicians has 3,700 participating doctors.
