Automatic Data Processing, Roseland, N.J., a publicly traded provider of business process outsourcing services, announced the acquisition of PhyLogic Healthcare, Springfield, Mass., a privately held billing and accounts-receivable management company.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
PhyLogic's market niche is small to mid-sized physician offices, according to an ADP news release. ADP's AdvancedMD business unit markets Web-based electronic health-record and physician practice-management systems software.
"With the acceleration of regulatory compliance challenges, including the move to ICD-10 coding standards, an increasing number of medical practices are outsourcing medical claims management," ADP AdvancedMD President Raul Villar said in the release. "The addition of revenue-cycle management is a natural extension of our value-add to independent physicians."
PhyLogic CEO Markus Muhlhauser said his company has partnered with ADP "for years," so the acquisition will allow his company to expand its revenue-cycle management capabilities.
"Our commitment and expertise together are well-matched," Muhlhauser said.
