Akron (Ohio) Children's Hospital named Dr. Amy Maneker as chief medical information officer.

Maneker, 49, will assume the newly created post starting Jan. 16, according to a news release. Previously, a committee had fulfilled the role. Besides aiding in the development of clinical information systems at the 359-bed hospital, Maneker will help clinicians as they transition to the use of an electronic health-record system, scheduled for a May rollout.
Maneker formerly worked in various roles at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital at 703-bed University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland. She helped design and build the hospital's EHR system and led physician implementation of it.
