T-System, a Dallas-based vendor of electronic and paper-based health-record systems for emergency departments, has acquired Practice Management Associates, Williamsburg, Pa., a provider of coding, billing and other revenue-cycle services for emergency rooms and ER physicians.
T-System buys Practice Management Associates
Terms of the deal, which closed Jan. 6, are not being disclosed, according to Mikael Ohman, COO for T-System. Ohman said physicians in 300 locations across the country use T-System's electronic health-record system.
Practice Management Associates has about 20 clients for its full-service computerized billing and coding services, Ohman said. “It's not a particularly big business, but they have tremendously high customer satisfaction. They've never lost a client. We have a very high-touch customer-service model and they break the same way. By tying these two businesses together, we can provide better service to clients on both end.”
PMA founder and emergency room physician Dr. Brian Clare said in a news release that joining was a “natural fit because both companies were founded by practicing ED physicians and have a first-hand understanding of the ED's unique challenges.”
