Managed Health Care Associates said it will acquire UHF Purchasing Services and Star Purchasing Services, two long-term-care group purchasing organizations owned by Extendicare Health Services Inc.
MHA to acquire Extendicare GPOs
The approximately $56 million deal is expected to close early next year, according to an Extendicare news release. Extenditure is an Ontario, Canada-based provider of long-term senior-care services.
“This will be MHA’s third and largest GPO acquisition in the long-term-care facility market within the last 12 months,” said MHA CEO Douglas Present in an MHA news release.
In the last year, Managed Health Care Associates, a Florham Park, N.J.-based provider of group purchasing and pharmacy services to alternative-site providers, acquired Tidewater Group Purchasing, a Milford, Ohio-based GPO owned by Omnicare, and Nashville-based Navigator Group Purchasing, which now operates as a subsidiary of Managed Health Care Associates.
