Burlington Anesthesia Associates, a physicians group out of Mt. Holly, N.J., has been acquired by American Anesthesiology, a division of Mednax.
Mednax division acquires Burlington Anesthesia
Mednax, Sunrise, Fla., paid cash in the transaction, but further specifics on the deal weren’t disclosed. Burlington is the first New Jersey-based group to join American Anesthesiology, which employs more than 325 anesthesiologists, plus 400 certified registered nurse anesthetists and anesthesia assistants in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. The New Jersey practice consists of 17 anesthesiologists and 25 certified registered nurse anesthetists, providing services at 317-bed Virtua Memorial in Mt. Holly.
The deal gives American Anesthesiology more than 850 anesthesia providers, with more than 400 doctors and 500 certified registered nurse anesthetists. Mednax provides neonatal, maternal-fetal and pediatric subspecialty services, along with anesthesia services, across the country.
