Hill-Rom Holdings, a provider of "smart" medical beds as well as in-hospital location-tracking and nurse communication systems, has reached a deal to acquire Volker, a private healthcare furniture company, for $85 million.
Hill-Rom to buy Germany's Volker
The cash deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2012, according to a Hill-Rom news release. Volker, based in Germany, manufacturers long-term and acute-care bed frames. The deal strengthens Hill-Rom's European product offerings, according to the release, and is expected to accelerate Hill-Rom's international expansion. Volker earned annual revenue in 2010 of about $100 million, according to the release.
