Humana has acquired Anvita Health, a San Diego-based company that offers analytics services to health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, providers, and vendors of personal health-record and electronic health-record systems.
Humana buys analytics provider Anvita
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in a Humana news release about the acquisition. Humana has partnered with Anvita Health, formerly called SafeMed, since 2010 and uses the company's analytics engine to identify members' gaps in care and concerns about drug safety.
"As Humana seeks to optimize the ways the company touches all levels of the healthcare system, it's increasingly necessary to implement an even broader set of clinical outreach efforts and to deploy stronger analytical tools," Paul Kusserow, chief strategy and corporate development officer for Humana, said in the release.
Anvita Health, founded in 2000, will operate as a subsidiary of Humana.
