McKesson Corp. announced it has received a government contract to provide medical digital imaging and picture archiving and communication services to all branches of the U.S. armed forces.
McKesson wins medical imaging contract
The contract, which has a two-year base period and two optional years, is worth up to $30 million, according to an e-mailed news release from San Francisco-based McKesson. Under the terms of the contract, McKesson can sell its picture archiving systems and subsystems to the military branches as well as to civilian defense departmeng agency facilities.
This summer, McKesson acquired information technology software and services vendor Portico Systems, Blue Bell, Pa. When the deal was first announced, it was reported that McKesson would pay $90 million in cash for Portico.
