The American College of Physician Executives has named two new ex officio members to serve on its board of directors.
ACPE names ex-officio members for residents and innovation
Dr. Veronica Sikka, a chief resident at 732-bed VCU Health System, Richmond, Va., will represent the interests of residents, according to an ACPE news release. And Dr. Howard Haft, a Maryland-based physician, will push for greater innovation.
Haft is a longtime ACPE member and served as co-chair of the organization's Innovation Task Force. Board-certified in internal medicine and emergency medicine, Haft has also spearheaded telemedicine programs and pushed for state action to curb healthcare costs.
Sikka, 30, is an emergency-medicine physician who also has a doctorate in health services organization and research.
The two new posts were added because of feedback from ACPE's task forces on innovation and medical education, according to the release. Haft's age was not available at deadline.
