Remedy Health Media, publisher of Diabetes Focus and Johns Hopkins Medicine publications, is moving to acquire HealthCentral, a company that provides online clinical and patient community resources to patients and caregivers.
Remedy Health Media to buy HealthCentral
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, according to a Remedy Health spokeswoman. The companies said in a news release (PDF) that that deal is expected to close this week.
Remedy Health Media is a New York-based health information and technology company owned by private-equity firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson. HealthCentral, based in Arlington, Va., operates 35 sites that cover specific conditions and diseases as well as wellness. The combined company will provide services to patients and caregivers online, in physicians' offices and pharmacies, and through mobile devices.
"With the acquisition of HealthCentral, we've dramatically increased our online reach, sales capacity and our ability to create industry leading health information and technology applications," said Michael Cunnion, CEO of Remedy Health Media, in the news release.
