WakeMed, a two-hospital system based in Raleigh, N.C., has expanded its primary-care offerings with two new practices, according to a news release.
WakeMed adds two practices
North Wake Internal Medicine, a three-physician practice in Raleigh, will now be known as Wake Specialty Physicians-North Wake Internal Medicine. Knightdale (N.C.) Family Practice also joined WakeMed, according to the release.
Additionally, two physicians joined existing WakeMed practices in Apex and Henderson, N.C.
"There is currently an unmet need for primary-care services, and WakeMed is committed to expanding access in the community," WakeMed President and CEO Dr. Bill Atkinson said in the release. "Over the past year, we have added multiple primary-care practices around the county, and will continue to recruit physicians in an effort to increase access to primary care in the communities we serve."
