Affiliated Computer Services, Dallas, has acquired the Breakaway Group, Denver, which offers a cloud-based service to help healthcare professionals with the adoption of electronic health records.
Xerox-owned ACS buys Breakaway Group
An ACS spokeswoman said terms of the deal would not be disclosed. ACS is owned by Xerox Corp., Stamford, Conn.
Breakaway's management and employees will remain with the company, and current Breakaway CEO Charles Fred will serve as an ACS managing director.
The Breakaway Group's technology allows providers to simulate the use of an EHR system, letting them become familiar with a system without jeopardizing real patient data, according to an ACS news release.
