UnitedHealthcare announced it will buy privately owned XLHealth Corp., Baltimore, a provider of Medicare Advantage health plans.
UnitedHealthcare to buy XLHealth
Terms of the all-cash deal were not disclosed in a UnitedHealthcare news release. UnitedHealthcare, Minnetonka, Minn., expects the acquisition to allow it to better serve chronically ill Medicare recipients as well as dual-eligibles.
XLHealth serves around 113,000 Medicare Advantage members in Arkansas, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, South Carolina and Texas and plans to expand to Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, New Mexico, New York and Wisconsin next year, according to the release. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2012.
