ContraFect Corp. named Dr. David Huang to the new position of chief medical officer of the Yonkers, N.Y.-based biotechnology company.

Huang, most recently a global medical director of medical affairs for Pfizer, also served as associate director of clinical development for Boehringer Ingelheim, according to a news release. His age was not available from ContraFect.
Huang currently serves as an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of (Newark) New Jersey, and as an attending physician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Manhattan, according to the release.
At ContraFect Corp., Huang will oversee the company's clinical strategy and development of a drug that treats infections. Clinical test for the drug expected to begin in mid-2012, the company said in the news release.
