Nielsen, 46, replaces Edwina Rogers at the medical home-focused organization, which announced in August that Rogers was leaving. A spokeswoman for the collaborative said she had no information about Rogers' departure.
Nielsen currently serves in multiple roles at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City. She is vice chairwoman of the department of health policy and management, assistant dean for health policy for the school of medicine and associate director of public policy in the Institute of Community and Public Health, according to the university website. She also has worked as chairwoman and executive director of the Kansas Health Policy Authority, according to a news release from the collaborative.
