The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and the eHealth Initiative have jointly released The HIE Guide for CIOs to educate healthcare information technology leaders about technical requirements and other issues involving health information exchanges.
CHIME releases info exchange guide for CIOs
"How health information exchange is achieved over the next few years is expected to change and evolve," CHIME President and CEO Richard Correll said in an e-mailed news release. "This guide is intended to be a starting point for identifying key issues for healthcare executives (who) are developing a ground-level understanding of how to accomplish health information exchange. As HIE grows and evolves in the coming months, this guide will be further refined to provide ongoing guidance on HIE decisions."
Jennifer Covich, executive director of the eHealth Initiative, said in the same statement that IT executives can use the guide "to help think through the process of getting involved in HIE."
The guide is available on the CHIME website.
