Singer Katy Perry was among the first to participate with a healthcare beneficiary in mind, donating a dress to benefit the American Red Cross. For good or for bad, the chosen item for sale was not the whipped-cream shooting contraption she wore in a music video, but maybe that outfit will be available in a future auction. Instead, according to eBay, Perry's contribution is a Todd Thomas-designed dress featuring a heart-shaped bodice encrusted with Swarovski crystals, and a skirt of cotton-candy pink tulle.
Perry's dress was attracting bids in the $8,100 range when it went up Nov. 9.
Meanwhile, actress Sienna Miller—not exactly a household name—also chose a healthcare organization and is cleaning out her closet of what her eBay page says are some of her favorite items, donating scads of boots, dresses and other articles of clothing to benefit the International Medical Corps. One of Miller's leather coats was going for more than $250 with a week of bidding left, while her Topshop navy and gray leopard-print pants were priced at about $4 with the same amount of bidding time left.
