A Nov. 2, 2011, article posted on ModernHealthcare.com, updated Nov. 3, 2011, and published in Modern Healthcare's Daily Dose e-newsletter, discussed a case pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. References in the article relating to the relationship of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Ga., to the case were intended to summarize the plaintiff's allegations of retaliation in the plaintiff's civil lawsuit. Modern Healthcare did not intend to suggest that the allegations against the hospital have been proven, or that the hospital, in fact, engaged in any improper conduct. Modern Healthcare regrets if any reader of the article understood otherwise. The same article incorrectly identified the court to which Phoebe Putney appealed a court decision in Georgia that upheld the granting of a certificate-of-need to Palmyra Medical Center, also in Albany. The appeal was filed with the Georgia Supreme Court.
