Kathryn Raethel was named president and CEO of Castle Medical Center, an Adventist Health hospital in Kailua, Hawaii. Raethel, 58, is vice president of patient care services at Castle and was worked for the hospital for the Oahu hospital for 11 years, according to a news release.

She is a registered nurse with advanced certification in cardiothoracic nursing, and she previously was vice president of professional services and chief operating officer at Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville, Calif. She begins her new role at Castle on Dec. 5 and replaces Kevin Roberts, who left to become president and CEO of Glendale (Calif.) Adventist Hospital.
