Illumina named Dr. Daniel Grosu vice president and chief medical officer, a newly created position at the San Diego-based biotechnology firm.
Illumina names Grosu VP, CMO
Grosu previously served as group director of clinical science and clinical and medical affairs at Johnson & Johnson-owned Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, according to an Illumina news release. He is a former director and leader of global clinical development and diagnostic imaging at Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals.
In his new position, Grosu is tasked with building Illumina's collaborations with regulatory agencies and with the company's product development teams and the clinical laboratory. He reports to Greg Heath, senior vice president and general manager of Illumina’s diagnostics unit, according to a spokeswoman. His age was not available at deadline.
