Freeman Health System, Joplin, Mo., named Paula Baker to succeed Gary Duncan as president and CEO.In August, the hospital announced Duncan's retirement after 15 years as CEO. Baker, Freeman's chief clinical officer since 2008 for the 318-bed hospital, will assume the role of CEO on Jan. 1, according to a news release announcing her appointment.

Baker, 53, previously held several executive positions at the Ozark Center, Freeman's behavioral health division, including chief executive for seven years. During her tenure she developed the Ozark Center for Autism.
