A new strategy report released by the Commonwealth Fund Commission on a High Performance Health System aims to create a roadmap for improving care to the uninsured, minorities and people with low incomes. The 17-member commission, which seeks opportunities to change the delivery and financing of healthcare, recommends three broad strategies for achieving that improved care in the 50-page report, Ensuring Equity: A Post-Reform Framework to Achieve High Performance Health Care for Vulnerable Populations. The commission's recommendations aim to: ensure the stability of the safety net and stimulate higher performance; strengthen care-delivery systems for vulnerable populations; and coordinate healthcare delivery systems with public health services and other community resources.
