Hewlett-Packard Co. has completed its acquisition of Autonomy Corp., a provider of information management technologies for several industries, including healthcare. Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP stated in a news release that it expects the deal to better position the company in the enterprise information management sector.
HP closes Autonomy deal
The healthcare business of Autonomy, based in Cambridge, England, specializes in clinical diagnosis and data management technologies. Autonomy Healthcare clients include insurers, pharmaceutical companies, academic medical centers and other organizations.
HP announced in August the deal to buy Autonomy. Dr. Mike Lynch, Autonomy's founder and CEO, will lead the Autonomy business unit at HP. He reports to Meg Whitman, HP's newly named president and CEO.
