Steward Health Care System named Joshua Putter to be COO for the eight-hospital system, which is based in Boston.
Putter most recently served as a president at Health Management Associates, where he managed 13 hospitals in Florida, according to a news release. He replaces Robert Guyon, a Caritas Christi executive who is taking another leadership position within the system, a Steward spokeswoman said.
Putter’s age was not immediately available.
Steward CEO Ralph de la Torre said in the news release that Putter’s knowledge of markets out of New England will aid the system as it expands. Earlier this month, Steward announced plans to partner with Watertown, Mass.-based Tufts Health Plan to offer a low-cost health plan to small businesses in Massachusetts.
