The CMS has extended the public-comment period deadline for proposed rules on state insurance exchanges (PDF) to Oct. 31, a month later than the original deadline of today.
CMS extends comment period on exchanges
The agency issued proposed rules on the exchanges in July and then followed with another set in mid-August. This recent announcement means that public comments for both sets of rules are now due in late October.
“This extension of the official comment period follows a robust outreach campaign to receive your comments on these rules,” Steve Larsen, director of CMS' Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, said in a blog posting on Sept. 27. “We talked to many different types of stakeholders about the proposed rules, including state officials, consumer advocates and health plans who have been attending our regional listening sessions to tell us what they think. But we need to hear from you officially—so please submit your thoughts and ideas via Regulations.gov.”
