Physicians Hospital System, Mishawaka, Ind., announced the purchase of a recently built, yet-to-open hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Physicians Hospital System makes move into N.D.
The facility will be called Doctors Hospital and will be located in the Aurora Medical Park. Originally intended as a physician-owned facility, provisions in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act restricting physician ownership of hospitals snarled the hospital's opening.
"The people of Grand Forks and its surrounding region deserve the best healthcare services at the most competitive prices," Physicians Hospital System CEO Cameron Gilbert said in an e-mailed news release. "Physicians Hospital System has been overwhelmed with the kindness and enthusiasm from the community. They are excited to have us in the community, and we are thrilled to bring patient- and doctor-focused healthcare to them."
The full-service hospital will include an emergency department, an intensive-care unit and an obstetrics department.
