Wholesale prices for acute-care hospital services increased 0.2% in August after the 0.4% increase the previous month, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index figures show. Acute-care hospital service prices were unchanged in August 2010. For the 12-month period ended last month, acute-care hospital prices increased 2.2% compared with 2.8% for the year-ago period.
Hospital PPI rises 0.2% in August
For physician offices, wholesale prices increased 0.1% in August after a 0.3% increase in July. Wholesale physician office prices rose 0.2% in August 2010. During the 12-month period that ended last month, the index for physician wholesale prices increased 1.2% after rising 2.7% the year-ago period.
