The Chicago-based American Health Information Management Association named Lynne Thomas Gordon CEO, AHIMA Board President Bonnie Cassidy announced in a news release.
AHIMA names Lynne Thomas Gordon CEO
Thomas Gordon has served since July 2010 as associate vice president for hospital operations and director of the Children's Hospital at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago. She also is a member of the Rush University faculty in the graduate program in health systems management.
She will start at the helm of AHIMA Sept. 29, just in time for the association's annual convention, slated for Oct. 1-6 in Salt Lake City.
Thomas Gordon was hired following a national search triggered by a top-management shakeup at AHIMA in June that included the departure of then-CEO Alan Dowling and longtime COO Sandra Fuller. AHIMA Director Rose Dunn was named interim CEO to replace Dowling but was not a candidate for the full-time position.
Before Rush, Thomas Gordon was the administrator of Houston Medical Center, Warner Robins, Ga.; COO of Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit; and COO at Shands ACH (Alachua County Hospital) in Gainesville, Fla.
An AHIMA member, Thomas Gordon is a past president and board member of the Georgia Health Information Management Association and has served on the AHIMA nominating committee and as a representative to the association's House of Delegates.
