DaVita, Denver, has closed on its purchase of DSI Renal, Nashville, for $689 million.
DaVita closes on DSI Renal acquisition
The deal, announced in February, followed a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission unveiled on Friday in which DaVita agreed to sell more than two dozen of its clinics, most of which were purchased from DSI. An FTC analysis found that publicly traded DaVita would have gained a monopoly or become one of only two providers in 16 markets.
DaVita will divest the clinics for $91 million subject to certain adjustments, according to a DaVita news release. According to the FTC, before the deal, DaVita was the nation's No. 2 dialysis firm, with more than 1,600 clinics in 42 states, and DSI was the fifth-largest, with 106 clinics in 23 states.
