Kevin L. Unger came to Poudre Valley Health System in 2001. He has held the positions of vice president of planning and strategic development for the system, vice president of operations for Poudre Valley Hospital and in 2005 was named the President/CEO.
Before joining Poudre Valley Hospital, Mr. Unger held positions at University Hospital and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colo. He also spent two years as a healthcare consultant with First Consulting Group headquartered in Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Unger was selected in 2009 as the recipient of the Robert S. Hudgens Young Healthcare Executive of the year through the American College of Healthcare Executives. The American College of Healthcare Executives is a 40,000-member organization.
In 2007, Mr. Unger was recognized as an "up and comer" by Modern Healthcare magazine, designating him as one of the 12 young "rising stars" of the healthcare administration profession in the country.
In 2002, Mr. Unger was named as one of northern Colorado's "40 under forty" by the Northern Colorado Business Report as an individual who has had an impact on his or her organization as well as made significant contributions of time and talent to the community, and also shows potential for being a leader in northern Colorado as the 21st century progresses.
A native of Fort Collins, Colo., Mr. Unger holds a bachelor of arts in sociology from Colorado State University and a master of science degree in health administration and a master of business administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. Mr. Unger is currently completing a doctor of philosophy in organizational development and change from Colorado State University. He and his wife, Stacy, are the proud parents of three children: Sydney, Mason and Sophia.
