Carondelet Health, Kansas City, Mo., has hired Mike Dorsey as CEO of 239-bed St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. (PDF), and COO of Carondelet, which is part of Ascension Health, St. Louis, according to a news release.
Dorsey hired as CEO of Kansas City hospital
Dorsey, 56, most recently was president and CEO of 208-bed Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., and 43-bed St. John Hospital, Leavenworth, Kan.; both hospitals are part of Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, Lenexa, Kan. Dorsey joined Sisters of Charity in 2000 as vice president of network development at the system's 291-bed St. Francis Health Center in Topeka, Kan.
Dorsey resigned those positions effective Aug. 26, according to a release from Providence. Sisters of Charity named Randall Nyp as interim CEO of the two hospitals, effective Aug. 29, according to the same release. Nyp, whose age was not available, most recently was senior vice president and COO of Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Healthcare System and also has extensive executive experience in Kansas.
Nyp was president and CEO of what was then known as Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita from 1997 to 2004.
Dorsey and Nyp are both fellows of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
