Feedback on defining patient-centered outcomes research must be submitted to the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute by the end of the day Thursday.
PCORI feedback due Thursday
The PCORI was established as an independent not-for-profit organization as part of last year's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act with the mission of conducting research about the "best available evidence to help patients and their healthcare providers make more informed decisions," according to the institute.
The organization's request for feedback on defining patient-centered outcomes research is an effort to ensure that there is a shared understanding of what its research should entail. The American Medical Association, in a draft letter, generally supports the PCORI's definition but asks for clarification as to whether cost analysis is included in the definition. "If that is the case, we do not believe that it is consistent with the PCORI’s enabling statute,” the AMA writes.
