Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick named Aron Boros commissioner of the state's Health Care Finance and Policy Division. Boros, 33, has served as director of federal finance for the state's Office of Medicaid since 2008. Before taking that position, he worked for the law firm Foley Hoag in Boston. Boros is expected to start his role as commissioner on Sept. 15 and will replace David Morales, who is now VP of public policy and planning for Steward Health Care System, Boston.
Mass. names new healthcare finance commissioner, and other moves
Greenville (S.C.) Hospital System University Medical Center hired Dr. Eric Bour, 48, to lead its Simpsonville, S.C., campus, which includes Hillcrest Memorial Hospital and a medical office building. Bour, the first physician to serve as the hospital's president, has been performing bariatric surgeries at the hospital for 10 years. … Community Memorial Hospital, a critical access hospital and clinic network based in Oconto Falls, Wis., named Daniel DeGroot to be its new CEO, effective this month. DeGroot, 52, succeeds former CEO Jim Van Dornick, who announced his retirement in July, according to a news release. DeGroot formerly worked as a division administrator at Wisconsin's Marshfield Clinic, covering the west and northwest division for the state's largest independent group practice. He has also worked as COO at the Minneapolis Heart Institute inside Abbott Northwestern Hospital. … Adventist Midwest Health, Hinsdale, Ill., named Mike Murrill, 32, as VP and CFO at Adventist Bolingbrook (Ill.) Hospital. He comes from Adventist La Grange (Ill.) Memorial Hospital, where he served as finance manager beginning in 2008. In Bolingbrook, he replaces Todd Anderson, who joined Grandview Medical Center and Southview Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio, as CFO. … Jackson Health System, Miami, hired three executives, including Martha Garcia and Alex Contreras-Soto, who will both have the title of senior VP and chief administrative officer of their individual hospitals. Garcia, who will lead Jackson South Community Hospital, is leaving HCA's Kendall Regional Medical Center, Miami, where she was COO. Contreras-Soto, who will head up Jackson Memorial Hospital effective Sept. 6, is leaving his job as president and CEO of Spring Hill (Fla.) Regional Hospital. Spring Hill's COO, Gino Santorio, also is leaving for the Jackson system, as corporate director of project management, according to a Spring Hill news release. Spring Hill's parent company, Health Management Associates, Naples, Fla., is promoting Patrick Maloney, CEO of the company's Brooksville (Fla.) Regional Hospital, to be market CEO for Hernando County, Fla.
Paula Wilson, 61, was named president and CEO of Joint Commission Resources and Joint Commission International, the Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based affiliates of the Joint Commission. Wilson has been serving as interim chief executive since the June 2010 retirement of Karen Timmons. A search committee deemed Wilson the best choice, and she received unanimous approval from the Joint Commission Board of Commissioners, according to a Joint Commission news release. Joint Commission Resources is the publishing and education arm of the Joint Commission, while Joint Commission International carries on consulting, accreditation and educational activities in more than 60 countries, according to the release. Previously, Wilson operated her own New York-based consulting practice and taught at New York University and was VP for policy at the United Hospital Fund.
