The eliminated positions included 84 cut through attrition and 33 layoffs.
Tony Raker, manager of public relations and crisis communications for Inova, said the management changes were intended to streamline decision-making and improve quality, safety and the patient experience.
“Our goal is to reduce bureaucracy, positioning our senior leadership closer to the patient,” Raker said in an e-mail. “By streamlining our management teams, we anticipate improved communication and more efficient decision making/implementation with respect to patient care.”
The Inova system employs more than 16,000 workers at its hospitals, assisted-living and long-term-care facilities, and healthcare centers throughout the Northern Virginia region.
