Garcia, who will lead Jackson South Community Hospital, is leaving HCA's 300-bed Kendall Regional Medical Center, Miami, where she was COO. Garcia previously has served as a CEO at two South Florida hospitals.
Contreras-Soto, who will head up Jackson Memorial Hospital effective Sept. 6, is leaving his job as president and CEO of 75-bed Spring Hill (Fla.) Regional Hospital. Contreras-Soto has experience as a CFO and COO at hospitals in the Miami area. Spring Hill's COO, Gino Santorio, also is leaving for the Jackson system, as corporate director of project management, according to a Spring Hill release.
Spring Hill's parent company, Health Management Associates, Naples, Fla., also announced that it is promoting one of its executives in Hernando County, Fla., to the position of market CEO. Patrick Maloney is being promoted, effective immediately, from his current position as CEO of Health Management's 91-bed Brooksville (Fla.) Regional Hospital. Brooksville and Spring Hill, as well as several outpatient centers and specialty service lines, are part of the company's operations in Hernando County.
