Greenville (S.C.) Hospital System University Medical Center has hired a physician as a hospital president for the first time, according to a news release.

The system named Dr. Eric Bour, 48, to lead its Simpsonville, S.C., campus, which includes 43-bed Hillcrest Memorial Hospital and a medical office building. Bour has been performing bariatric surgeries at the hospital for 10 years and helped Hillcrest achieve center of excellence status from the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, according to the release.
Bour earned a bachelor's degree at Emory University, Atlanta, and his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University, State College.
