Christiana Care Health System, a two-hospital system based in Wilmington, Del., has named Dr. James Newman senior vice president and executive director of the new Christiana Care Value Institute. Newman also was designated chief academic officer, according to a news release. Newman previously served as the health system's chief medical officer and chief patient safety officer. His age was not available from the system.

The new Christiana Care Value Institute aims to improve clinical outcomes and lower costs by investigating and implementing improvements in its patient care, according to the release. Four centers will comprise the Value Institute: the Center for Outcomes Research; the Center for Quality and Safety: the Center for Operational Excellence, and the Center for Health System Design Research.
