The HIMSS Latino Community, an arm of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Chicago, has created three new work groups covering business, health disparities and external relations, the organization has announced.
HIMSS Latino Community creates new workgroups
The business work group will focus on relationship building with the business community “to both describe the unique benefits of supporting the HIMSS Latino Community” and “to listen and learn what the private sector is doing to improve health IT, health IT adoption.”
The health disparities work group will collect information on health disparities affecting the Hispanic community and act as the voice of the HIMSS Latino Community for advocacy and public education about those issues.
The external relations group will “focus on interfacing with government agencies, non-profit groups and academia.”
The community was launched in February to advance health IT policies and services for Latinos.
