Merge Healthcare, Chicago, has added ophthalmology to its slate of specialties in imaging data solutions with the completion of its acquisition of Sacramento, Calif.-based Ophthalmic Imaging Systems, according to a Merge news release.

The companies did not release financial details of the acquisition, but it was said to be a stock deal worth about $30 million when the purchase was announced in June.
Publicly traded Merge already handles image-sharing and transfer solutions in radiology, cardiology and orthopedics. OIS sells ophthalmology imaging software and practice-management systems, including a single-platform electronic health-record system.
