SXC Health Solutions Corp. has reached a deal to acquire PTRx and SaveDirectRx for $77 million in cash. The deal also includes performance payouts of as much as $4.5 million, according to an SXC news release.
SXC Health to buy PTRx
The deal is expected to close by the end of the year. SXC Health Solutions, a healthcare information technology and pharmacy benefit management company based in Lisle, Ill., reached the deal for PTRx, a pharmacy benefit manager, under a strategy to acquire companies that use SXC technology, according to the release. SaveDirectRx is the exclusive mail-order pharmacy provider to PTRx, which has been an SXC client since 2006, the release noted. The two companies manage $90 million in annual pharmaceutical spending.
