Tenet Healthcare Corp., Dallas, more than doubled profits for the second quarter compared with the year-ago quarter, as its adjusted admissions increased and acuity remained roughly the same, according to a Tenet news release (PDF).
Tenet recorded net income of $55 million for the quarter, compared with $25 million in 2010's second quarter. Revenue increased 3.1%, to $2.37 billion. The company reported a 0.2% decline in same-facility admissions, but a 1% increase in same-facility adjusted admissions, comparing the quarters. Tenet recorded a 1.1% increase in same-facility surgeries. Outpatient surgeries increased by 3.3%, Trevor Fetter, president and CEO, said during an interview.
