Science Applications International Corp., McLean, Va., plans to acquire Vitalize Consulting Solutions, which provides clinical, business and information technology services for healthcare companies, according to a news release.
SAIC plans to acquire Vitalize Consulting
The acquisition is expected to close in early August, according to the release. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Kennett Square, Pa.-based Vitalize Consulting has specialized in electronic health-record services for hospitals.
The deal may bolster SAIC’s existing government contracting business during the ongoing rollout of a $20 billion federal EHR incentive program for healthcare providers. The deal is “complementary,” according to the news release, because it will provide the 41,000-employee company with a “dynamic channel into the commercial health provider market, as well as the ability to leverage its information integration and data analytics expertise with VCS' healthcare IT and clinical workflow optimization capabilities.”
The deal will move about 600 VCS employees to SAIC's Health Solutions Business Unit, according to the company.
